Results of the UAEERF National Show Jumping Competition at the Al Habtoor Polo Resort and Club

Al Habtoor Polo Resort and Club played host to the UAEERF National Show Jumping Competition as part of the Emirates Longines Show Jumping League on 06th to 07th December 2018.

The Club welcomed over 130 showjumpers who competed in 11 classes with jumps from 110 up to 140 cm. The competition is an opportunity for riders to demonstrate their skills in sync with their prized horses and is also evidence of the effort put into developing showjumping as a competitive sport in the region.

Sheikha Latifa Bint Ahmed Al Maktoum competed in Classes 1 and 8 with jumps from 135 and 140 respectively. When asked about her performance and the development of the sport in the region she said, " I'm happy with my performance and of those who participated. Showjumping has improved drastically in UAE with a lot of international participants coming into the country for the international season. It is important that we see good riders as it pushes us to improve our game."

The December edition of the National Showjumping Competition is a part of the Emirates Longines Show Jumping League. Held from October – April, the League features a series of national and international shows that will offer the audience a range of exciting competitions for riders of all levels and ages. The history of Longines’ relationship with show jumping dates back to 1912. More than a century later and the brand’s passion for and commitment to this sport are still incredibly strong. Today, Longines is the Official Partner and Official Timekeeper for a great number of prestigious competitions around the world including the Emirates Longines Show Jumping League.

Tina Lund was beaming after her performance on the first day. "I'm pleased to be back in Al Habtoor Polo Resort and Club, and the facilities are great! My two horses competed well and I look forward to having more competitions here. Showjumping in the UAE is getting better every year and I hope this will continue as we need to have more people appreciating the sport."

Spectators watched showjumpers from all over the globe and cheered on their favourites. Khalil Ibrahim, President - Ground Jury from the Emirates Equestrian Federation commended the Club and said "The facilities are fantastic for the horses and the riders. The feedback I received from competitors were positive and the Al Habtoor team has done a good job in working with the Federation."
